I’m a great fan of Apple, It’s products & A great admirer of Steve Jobs. Apple’s Ecosystem is the best I’ve ever used. Be it the WWDC Or The special events, I never missed following any Apple event ever since the launch of iPhone 5. When an Apple event is going to happen, I feel as excited as an Apple employee would. But this year’s iPhone launch disappointed me. Later, A couple of hours after the event, I came to know that it’s not just me, Apple disappointed the world of geeks & fans for various reasons.
Before I tell you how Apple disappointed the world, I request you to read this for a moment.
Apple launched 3 iPhones this year, With iPhone X being the special edition marking the 10th anniversary of the iconic original iPhone that changed the world. I’m sure these are going to earn a fortune for Apple. But,
- Did Apple change the world with this year’s new iPhones?
- What did Apple reinvent?
- Did tim cook and his team justify the words “Think different” this time?
- Can we term the new iPhones as the icons of creativity or technological advancements?
- Do you think iPhone X deserves the title “One More Thing .. ” (if you know about the significance of these words)
I have to admit that a complete bezel-less display is a good move but the whole mobile industry is trying to adopt it, LG, Samsung, Vivo, Redmi and more. What’s Apple’s achievement in that?
The Face id is a remarkable feature, it pushes forward the mobile biometric security. But do you think it’s gonna change the world? Have you heard of Microsoft’s Hello and Android’s Trusted face?
The same old iPhone with a bezel-less display, Face id and a couple of improvements is not worth of Steve Jobs iconic words for its introduction.
I’m sorry Tim cook, iPhone X don’t deserve Steve’s words “One More Thing..”
With iPhone X Apple Disappointed the world, Here’s Why!
I’m not saying iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X are failures. They are not & they won’t be. In fact they are a powerhouse for performance when compared with any android phone on the market. But you will be disappointed to know, what the whole world of geeks expected to see in iPhone X from the patents filed by Apple and what was included in the final product.
Apple Disappointed the world with iPhone X
Apple took patents for some really great hardware design ideas, in-fact it has been rumored that Apple is actually working on including them in the iPhone X. Unfortunately, Apple disappointed the world as none of them made their way to iPhone X. Here I’m mentioning 3 of those patents:
1. On-Screen Fingerprint Scanner Built right into the touchscreen
Apple has filed a patent for an on-screen fingerprint scanner that can be built right into the iPhone display which replaces the need for the home button for Touch id on iPhones. IOS 11 gesture-based dock replace the functionality of the home button. These two factors gave a reason for the developers and analysts to believe Apple is going to include this in iPhone X.
“A fingerprint sensor may be particularly advantageous for verification and/or authentication in an electronic device, and more particularly, a portable device, for example,”
“Where a fingerprint sensor is integrated into an electronic device or host device, for example, as noted above, it may be desirable to more quickly perform authentication, particularly while performing another task or an application on the electronic device.”— Source: CNBC
Unfortunately, this didn’t make its way to iPhone X. There have been some statements from trusted leaks that Apple intentionally dropped this feature due to technical issues in implementing the functionality. This also suggests that we might see this in the near future. Once it’s implemented in iPhone, it’s just a matter of time before this design makes its way to iPad and Apple Watch.
To our surprise, Microsoft is actually working on something like this for it’s rumored surface phone.
2. Touch ID On Power Button
Apple has been granted the patent to include touch id sensor inside the power button itself, which gives Apple the advantage to go with it complete bezel-less design.
A finger biometric sensor assembly may include a finger biometric sensor integrated circuit (IC) die having a finger sensing area and a cover layer aligned with the finger sensing area. The finger biometric sensor may also include a direct bonding interface between the finger biometric sensor IC die and the cover layer.
The direct bonding interface may be a hydrophilic direct bonding interface, for example. Alternatively, the direct bonding interface may be a hydrophobic direct bonding interface. The direct bonding interface may include silicon oxynitride. The direct bonding interface may include silicon oxide, for example.— Source : 9to5 Mac
According to another patent filed by Apple, The Apple Crown from the Apple watch was included to iPhone in place of the volume buttons, and the nib of the apple crown comes with the touch id. Though I’m not sure if this comes to iPhone or not, we can expect it in Apple watch in the future.
3. Display with curved screen and bent edges
Among the patents Apple filed, one of the design represents a mobile screen device with bending edges. As per what apple mentioned in patent filing description :
“For devices with a touch screen, an increased display area can also provide a larger touch-active area. Typically, the display/touch-active area of a mobile electronic device is enclosed partially or fully by a border area,”
“Further reducing the border area would nevertheless help maximizing the space available for the display/touch-active area of the device without increasing the overall size of the device.”— Source : from CNBC
In a way, Apple included this feature in iPhone X, but not in the way users expected it. Check the below pic : (Ring any bells ? )

Though I agree with the statement that ‘Merely taking a patent doesn’t guarantee that it will be included the next iPhone’. But with iPhone X being a special edition to the iconic original iPhone that changed the world, There’s nothing wrong in expecting to see some cool new features, all-new design and the magic to make it worthy of the words “One More Thing.. “.
Apple is the world’s richest company and most trusted brand, It makes the devices that offer the highest user satisfaction. But being a company that’s known for its innovation, creativity & marketing, Apple has been falling behind Microsoft these last couple of years in terms of innovation & creativity. Not to forget Apple has been disappointing it’s Mac Book fans from the past couple of years. But it also proved that the love and loyalty of Apple fans never change.
An Apple Fan Will Never-Give-Up
From a company like Apple, I personally feel “It’s never wrong for fans to expect more” & I’m still “proud to be a fan of Apple”.

No one is gonna buy iPhone 8. No waiting lines. I wanted to share the pic here but no option to upload pics here. Every one is waiting for iPhone x
I got disappointed with iPhone x. There is nothing new. same sa from the leaks. Me and sis saw the leaked images 3 months before the launch and when the final product is no different I was very disappointed. Still I will buy iPhonex.
Somu is right. iPhone 8 is nothing new. But iPhone x is better and pricy. But I’m gonna stick with my iPhone 7 Plus. X is very costly. I’ll buy when there is a price drop
I’m not disappointed. But those patents are way ahead of time. Apple is proving its innovation and creativity. Microsoft is not a competition to apple they don’t have apps
